Get the ladder! Find the lights!
The second annual Vankleek Hill Wonderland of Lights Contest is officially underway.
Organized by the not-for-profit Vankleek Hill Business and Merchant Association, $1,600 in Vankleek Hill bucks will be given to winners as prize money after the judges visit all the locations on December 11 to score the entries.
Once again this year, there are two categories:
1 – Best use of lights
2 – Best environmentally-friendly exhibit (use of greenery, repurposed items — yes, lights can be used in this category).
Prize money (Vankleek Hill bucks) for each each category is as follows:
First prize: $500 in Vankleek Hill bucks
Second prize: $200 in Vankleek Hill bucks
Third prize: $100 in Vankleek Hill bucks
How to enter:
Send your name, your address, your contact tel. # and indicate which category you are entering summed up in an email to: [email protected]
Please put: Wonderland of Lights Contest in the subject line. Note that the deadline to enter (send your email) is December 9 at midnight.
Judging will take place on December 11 between 6 pm and 8 pm, so be sure that your lights and music (if any) are turned on for 6 p.m. on December 11!
PS: If you can light up the night in time for the Champlain Parade of Lights, which takes place on Friday, December 2, go for it!
The business association is always reminding everyone to support local and here is another reason to keep that in mind, says contest organizer Louise Sproule, who is also co-chair of the Vankleek Hill Business and Merchant Association, along with Philippe Fortin.
“Eight local companies are each donating $200, making it possible for us to host this contest,” said Sproule.
The 2022 sponsors are: Beau’s All-Natural Brewing Company, Wylie Property Maintenance, Tolhurst Law Offices, Vankleek Cottage, LVH Building Group/Curtis St. Pierre Construction, Duval Ventures, I-Team Home Inspection and Vankleek Hill Foodland.
If you are decorating and have no email capability, please write your entry information on a piece of paper and bring it to The Review offices at 76 Main Street East by midnight on December 9, 2022 or drop your entry information in the mailbox on the front of The Review.
