École élémentaire catholique Elda-Rouleau in Alexandria proudly inaugurated its brand-new outdoor community skating rink today on Tuesday, October 27 Students, staff, partners, and community members gathered to celebrate the completion of what is being described as a unifying project.
The new facility is a significant addition to the school’s Elda-Rouleau Catholic Elementary School’s sports program. It will support the school’s hockey and skating programs, while also providing students with new opportunities for physical activity outside of school.
At the inauguration, Grade 6 students participated in various sports activities.
The construction of this new skating rink was made possible thanks to a strong community effort. A portion of the funds raised for the project was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Alain “Ti-Bert” Larocque, a well-known and beloved figure in the Alexandria community.
To recognize his contribution to the community and to perpetuate his memory, a commemorative plaque in his honor was unveiled during the ceremony. Members of the Larocque family and friends were also present to participate in this symbolic moment.
The ceremony continued with the blessing of the new skating rink by Father Didier, followed by the traditional ribbon-cutting and the official puck drop.
