Hawkesbury town council has adopted a three-year temporary zoning amendment which allows a chip stand to locate at the former École Marguerite-Bourgeoys school site on Bon Pasteur Street.
A public meeting on the temporary zoning by-law amendment was held on Monday, March 9. The amendment by law was subsequently adopted at the Regular Council Meeting that same evening.
The property at 82 Bon Pasteur Street was zoned Institutional, which does not permit a restaurant establishment. The temporary use amendment allows the business to operate on the site for up to three years. Currently, the chip stand is located adjacent to the gas station at the corner of McGill and Bon Pasteur streets.
The chip stand will be located further back from the street to allow parking at the front. On-street parking is not permitted in the area.
