An increase in property values and development in Grenville means residential property owners will face an almost zero tax increase this year.

According to the 2026 budget adopted by village council in December 2025, the total property value in Grenville has increased by about $20 million. Residential and non-residential tax rates remain unchanged.

The average residential property value in Grenville is $280,800. The village estimates that any impact on residential taxes in 2026 will be zero, or $1 at the most.

The total value of the 2026 village budget is $3,571,447, compared to $3,331,467 in 2025. Out of that total, $2,311,794 is projected to be tax revenue.

“This planning allows us to maintain quality services while ensuring responsible management,” Mayor Pierre Thauvette said in a statement accompanying the budget document.

Water and sewer rates are unchanged for 2026 and will remain at $230 per service connection. Waste collection fees are increasing by $10 to $155 per dwelling.

Four major capital projects are planned in Grenville for 2026. They are repairs to the baseball field, infrastructure repairs, replacement of the exterior of the lighthouse by the canal, and the construction of a viewing platform by the marsh along the Sentier de la Rive recreational path.
