To the Editor,
The majority of Canadians have a desire to come to a trade agreement with the USA, as well as other countries around the world.
A basic code of conduct in business and most negotiations is ”One face to the customer.” Unity is also necessary. This is common in business and other negotiations.
Canadian politicians see the Canada-US situation as an opportunity for personal popularity gains versus what is best and needed by and for the Canadian taxpaying citizen. Canada must negotiate with a common front with one face to the customer.
There is an agreement that the Canadian Prime Minister is the face of the nation that was agreed to by all provinces. But, to Canadian politicians, agreements are made to be broken whenever they want photo ops, headlines etc., and too often without any thought of potential consequences.
Do we need this type of immature behavior from Canadian politicians at this particular point in time?
