A Casselman resident has been arrested and charged in connection with several break-ins and thefts.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Street Crime Unit solved numerous break-ins, recovered approximately $40,000 worth of stolen property.  

A total of 18 break-ins had been reported around the Casselman area between July 1 and September 27 this year.

On Monday, October 27, 2025, members of the Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by members of the Russell County OPP, made an arrest and then executed a search warrant at a residence on Lafleche Boulevard in Casselman. They located a large amount of stolen property, including contractor tools and other power tools, an acetylene cutting torch and alcohol.

Yohan Caissy, age 22 of Casselman has been charged with:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence – 18 counts
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on November 5, 2025.

Officers have been able to return most of the property to their rightful owners. Remaining in police possession are some Dewalt power tools. If you believe these tools may be yours, please contact Detective Constable Boileau at 613-443-4499.
