The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fire at a residence in Russell Township over the past weekend.
On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at approximately 1:55 a.m., members of the Russell County OPP were dispatched to a fire at a residence on Herbert Street. The Nation Fire Services were already on scene battling the fire.
The fire was brought under control quickly; however, the residence sustained significant damage as a result of both the fire and the water used in suppression efforts. The OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Fire Marshall (OFM) also attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
