Renovations are being made to the building which will eventually be a reopened visitor centre for the village of Grenville.
The building located by the boat launch and the eastern entrance of Grenville Canal was originally located at the corner of rue Maple (Route 344) and rue Principale near the Long Sault Bridge where it served as a tourist information centre. In 2023, it was relocated to its current site with the plan of reopening the building as a visitor centre for the village.
Grenville village council has awarded a contract to Les constructions JJL for $101,189.50 including taxes to make repairs to the building before it is reopened.
