Voters in Alfred and Plantagenet have a range of choices in this municipal election. There are three candidates for mayor and 12 candidates for four councillor seats.
Incumbent Ward 2 Councillor Antoni Viau and candidate Deborah Hendrix are challenging incumbent Yves Laviolette in the mayoral race.
For the two Ward 1 councillor seats, Benoit Lamarche and Jean-Pierre Cadieux are running again. They are facing challengers Sylvain Gariépy, Jacques Malboeuf, Ingrid Hein, René Beaulne, and Nathalie Cadieux.
In Ward 2, Ian Walker is running again as councillor and the ward’s other seat is also open because of Viau’s candidacy for mayor. The candidates challenging Walker and seeking to fill the open seat are Sylvain Boudreault, Stephanie Rieux, Chantal Galipeau, and Emilie Ducharme.
Election day in Alfred and Plantagenet, and in municipalities across Ontario, is October 26.
