Beginning August 19, The Review will introduce Down to Earth: Practical Advice for the Home Gardener, a new guest-written gardening column available exclusively in our e-edition.

Different writers, fresh gardening ideas

Rather than hearing from just one columnist, readers will meet several guest writers who will take turns sharing their gardening knowledge, experience and ideas.

Each writer will bring something a little different to the column—because, just like gardens, no two gardeners are exactly alike!

During the growing season, Down to Earth will appear in the second digital edition of each month, offering practical and straightforward advice for home gardeners.

Whether you have a large vegetable garden, a few raised beds or some favourite plants growing in containers, we hope the column will give you helpful information, fresh ideas and a little extra encouragement along the way.

After all, gardening does not always go according to plan. Sometimes the weeds grow better than the vegetables, the zucchini gets away from you and the tomatoes all decide to ripen at once!

That is where a little down-to-earth advice can come in handy.
