In just nine days, 52 local young people learned, practiced, rehearsed, and then performed an entertaining closing concert during the annual Vankleek Hill Music and Arts Summer Camp.
The popular day camp was held at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute and campers learned to play various musical instruments, choir, and art. On Friday, July 10, the camp closed with a concert and art show enjoyed by parents, grandparents, and friends. In the lobby, art created by the campers was on display.
Instrumental pieces were performed by each of the four groups of students. In years past, all groups of campers performed parts of a single play at the closing concert. However, changes were made this year and the campers performed skits and songs they had written themselves.
Seven teachers worked with the campers this year. They are Christos Bereris (xylophone), ian hepburn (harp), Alice Rodger (ukelele), Rachel Campbell (choir), Susie Fairbrother (art), Tristan Das Eiras (recorder/flutophone), and Wayne Stoute (percussion).
Group leaders for the 2026 Vankleek Hill Music and Arts Summer Camp were Aleecia Schwendemann, Mia Muhari, Emma Ammell, and Alisander Schwendemann.
