Whispering Pines Campground will become a faerie forest from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5.
According to Jenn Davis of the planning committee, the Whispering Pines Faerie Festival grew from a desire to create something magical for families, while also giving back to a great cause. The festival is being held in support of CHEO and is intended to bring together local families, artisans, performers, volunteers, and campers for a weekend of imagination, creativity, and fun. The idea began with campground owner Eileen Garde, who wanted to create something special for the community. From there, a group of faerie volunteers came together to help turn that vision into reality.
“For me, this festival is deeply personal. My children grew up spending time at Whispering Pines, and some of my favourite memories are of watching them explore the campground, build forts, catch frogs, make friends, and enjoy the kind of simple outdoor adventures that seem harder and harder to find today,” Davis said.
“When Eileen shared her dream of creating a faerie festival, I immediately connected with the idea because it celebrates that same sense of wonder, imagination, and community,” added Davis.
Many people have come forward to contribute their talents to the event. Local performers, artists, vendors, volunteers, businesses and families have all helped shape the event.
Visitors can expect a whimsical, family-friendly weekend filled with live music, local artisans, children’s activities and games, a Faerie Tea Party, costume contests, camping, and plenty of magical surprises throughout the campground.
Highlights include the Faerie Hollow Marketplace featuring local artisans; children’s activities; Faerie-oke (karaoke for faeries); a Youth Talent Showcase featuring local Glengarry’s Got Talent 2025 winners, The Panoramic; and a DJ hosted Faerie Ball to finish it off.
“One of our goals is to create an event where all children can unplug, explore, and use their imaginations while parents and grandparents join in the experience. Whether someone arrives dressed as a faerie, a knight, a dragon, or simply themselves, they will be welcomed,” Davis remarked.
“Most importantly, we hope visitors leave with happy memories, new friendships, and a sense of community while helping support CHEO,” she added.
