A person who died in a house fire in Plantagenet on May 22 has been identified by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The name of the individual has not been released, but the victim was a 64-year-old woman.
At around 2:45 pm on May 22, 2026, officers responded to a report of a residential fire on Water Street. Emergency services attended the scene, where the individual was located deceased inside the residence.
Following the investigation by members of the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, police do not suspect foul play in relation to the fire or the death. The investigation was conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, with assistance from the Office of the Fire Marshal.
