Charlie Kazak is still planting environmental conservation in the minds of others.
The annual Charlie’s Trees Parade followed Main Street in Vankleek Hill again on Sunday, May 17 during the annual May Show Festival.
Usually, tree seedlings are given away near The Creating Centre during the event, but Charlie said that they decided not to this year. The tree giveaway will be back next year. Still, the parade, complete with placards, and the remarkable papier-maché figures created by artist, and Charlie’s grandmother, Susie Fairbrother, made its way through the May Show area and back to The Creating Centre. Charlie’s family and friends all helped and participated.
Charlie is now in Grade 6 at Pleasant Corners Public School. He has no plans to stop his annual event and wants to continue right into his high school years.
Army Cadets provided a marching rhythm for this year’s Charlie’s Trees Parade. Trees of Hope and Eco East also participated.
