A crowd of approximately 400 individuals gathered at the Glengarry Sports Palace on Saturday, May 9, for Glengarry’s Got Talent. Performers from across the region took the stage before an enthusiastic hometown audience and a panel of three judges.

The annual event was organized by Caddell Productions, led by Brian and Elizabeth Caddell, in partnership with the Township of North Glengarry. The evening was hosted by master of ceremonies Sarah Caddell.
Judges Jamie MacDonald, Jeff Manley, and special guest and local talent Tara Shannon had their work cut out for them in selecting the evening’s top three performances from 17 finalists.
Shannon, who grew up in Dalkeith and graduated from Glengarry District High School, is an artist, entrepreneur, and educator who has helped countless artists navigate the ever-changing music industry. Shannon recently released her seventh studio album, “Cover Story,” which pays tribute to the Canadian female artists who influenced her career.

First-place winner Miz Kitten (Tyra Johnson) took home the $500 grand prize after being selected by the judges as the evening’s top performer. Second-place went to Keyla (Keyla Retamales), who received $300, while Brittany Boots earned third place and $200.

An added prize of a consulting session with Shannon’s label team at Willow Sound Records was awarded to L’Orignal metalcore band, SilentSwarm, featuring frontman Lucas Thibodeau, guitarist Jayden Hébert, bassist Max Tremblay, and drummer Hayden Morant Gautier. SilentSwarm’s high-energy performance of an original song captured the attention of both the audience and judges.
