The Member of Parliament for Prescott-Russell-Cumberland is indicating she wants to be the bridge between the community, Alto, and the Department of Transport with respect to concerns about the proposed high-speed rail line.
In a social media post on Thursday, April 2, Giovanna Mingarelli emphasized the importance of the project and to ensure it has advantages for the region.
“The high-speed rail project is a nation building, generational investment—and I know it also brings real questions and concerns for residents, businesses, and farmers,” Mingarelli wrote.
“Please know this: I am your bridge between the community, Alto, and the Minister of Transport. I am actively advocating on your behalf and ensuring your voices are heard—directly by Alto and by the Minister and his team,” she continued.
Mingarelli said she wants to make sure the Alto project works for the regional economy.
“My priority is to see this project support our local economy, hire local talent, and respect the communities it is meant to serve. I have already shared with Alto and the Minister the names of local businesses and stakeholders who want to be part of this process.”
Mingarelli said everyone who has contacted her office about Alto should have received a response.
“This project is a top priority for me and my team, and we are working to follow up and communicate your feedback,” she said.
Mingarelli encourages residents to provide input through Alto’s interactive map. The consultation period has been extended until April 24, 2026. That map is available at https://en.consultation.altotrain.ca/…/places/interact-map. Mingarelli’s office may also be contacted directly anytime at [email protected].
