To mark the final day on Saturday, April 4, of the exhibitions Where Water Meets Land by Mary Gourlay and RISE by Sinclair A. Maloney, the public is invited to attend a special artist talk and conversation at the Arbor Gallery.

During this closing event, both artists will share insights into their inspiration, creative processes, and the ideas that shape their work. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in an open dialogue, offering a deeper understanding of the exhibitions. The event also represents a final chance for visitors and collectors to acquire artwork before the exhibitions close.

Mary Gourlay’s paintings, featured in the gallery’s main room, reflect her deep connection to the natural world. Since moving to Canada in 1992, she has drawn inspiration from landscapes including the Canadian Shield, the St. Lawrence shoreline near Rimouski, and Vancouver Island. Her work evolves from sketches, photographs, and small studies into larger studio pieces that capture the power, fragility, and movement of the landscape.

In a complementary exhibition, Sinclair A. Maloney presents a selection of landscape and seascape paintings that explore the atmosphere and place. With over 15 years of experience in photography and influenced by 19th-century painters such as Corot and Courbet, Maloney’s work balances precision with mood, creating scenes rich in light, depth, and subtle movement.

Whether visitors have followed the exhibitions from the beginning or are discovering them for the first time, all are welcome to attend this engaging and reflective event.

Please note that the Arbor Gallery will be closed on Sunday, April 5, in observance of Easter.

Arbor Gallery is located at 103 High Street in Vankleek Hill, Ontario. Regular hours are Thursday to Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
