On Thursday, March 26, Champlain Township Council received a report outlining the total remuneration paid to each council member. The total amount paid for all council members and the mayor was $255,251.24, inclusive of base remuneration, committee meetings, and mileage and other expenses.

Compared with the 2024 total of $258,180.76, this represents a 1.15 per cent decrease, or $2,929.52 less.

Councillors’ salaries totalled $245,254.00, followed by $7,397.24 for convention, mileage, and other expenses, and $2,600 for committee meetings. Each councillor received $24,587 in base remuneration, with additional amounts varying based on individual involvement.

Mayor Normand Riopel received a total of $50,887.48 in 2025, consisting of $48,558 in base salary, $1,690 for committee meetings, and $639.48 for mileage, convention, and other expenses. In 2024, Riopel received $50,400.24 in total remuneration, representing an increase of approximately 0.97 per cent or an additional $487.24 in 2025.

Councillors Paul Emile Duval and Paul Burroughs each received a total of $24,847, which included $260 for committee meetings and no reported convention or travel expenses. Councillor Gerry Miner received $24,977, which includes $390 in committee meeting compensation.

Councillor André Roy received a total of $24,926.63, including $339.63 for convention, mileage, and other expenses. Councillor Michel Lalonde received $27,880.91, including $3,293.91 in convention, mileage, and other expenses. Similarly, Councillor Sarah Bigelow received $27,711.22, including $3,124.22 in expenses.

Councillors Peter Barton and Ginette Clement did not claim any additional expenses in 2025 and received only the base remuneration of $24,587.
