Pilot of an Air Canada aircraft killed in a collision at La Guardia Airport in New York on Monday, March 23 was a graduate of Vankleek Hill Vocational Institute (VCI).

On Thursday, March 26, the Upper Canada District School Board confirmed that Antoine Forest graduated from VCI in 2013.

Forest, 30, whose most recent address was in Coteau-du-Lac, and co-pilot Mackenzie Gunther, were killed when their aircraft collided with a fire truck on the airport runway.

Forest’s connection to VCI is the second local link the tragic crash has to this region. Flight attendant Solange Tremblay of Lachute was ejected from the aircraft and is recovering from a series of injuries.
