On Monday, March 16, Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SDG) Counties Council unanimously awarded a contract for its 2026 micro-surfacing program on the United Counties’ road network, approving a base contract and a change order to expand the scope of work to include County Road 3.

Council accepted Duncor Enterprises’ bid of $381,079 plus HST, and approved a further $113,603.20 through a change order, bringing the total contract value to $494,682.20, plus applicable taxes. The work remains within the municipality’s approved budget of $610,000.

SDG Manager of Capital Works – Roads, Dana Grant, said that micro-surfacing is a preventive maintenance treatment used to extend the lifespan of existing asphalt roads and preserve the road network. The process helps protect against weather-related deterioration while reducing the risk of cracking and potholes.

The additional work was priced at the same unit rates as those submitted in Duncor Enterprises’ original bid.
