The Casselman Library is breaking new ground as the first public library in Ontario to offer a fully virtual library card, thanks to the Bciti+ app.

With the new digital card, residents can browse books, read magazines online, and even reserve museum passes, all from their phone.

The service, launched by the municipality in partnership with Bciti+, allows users to store their library card in their phone’s digital wallet, making it easy to access anytime, anywhere.

Municipal officials say the initiative reflects Casselman’s ongoing effort to make public services more accessible and better suited to today’s digital lifestyle. By putting library access directly on residents’ phones, the town is aiming to simplify everyday tasks while staying ahead in digital municipal services across Ontario.

Being a smaller municipality also helps, officials noted, as it allows Casselman to move quickly and adopt new technologies that benefit the community.

Signing up for the e-card is simple. After registering with the Bciti+ app, users can select the library card option and follow a few quick steps to get started.

Current library members can link their existing card to the digital version and keep the same number. Even those who don’t live in Casselman can sign up for an e-card using the same process.

Residents can register directly from their phone. For more information or assistance, visit the municipal website:
