The Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 inductees and one of them has connections to Vankleek Hill.

There were approximately 30 nominations for 2026, and five inductees have been announced.

Celtic music performer Jim McRae is one of the nominees. In addition to being part of Sixmilecross as a guitarist, banjoist, and vocalist, McRae also regularly plays during services at Knox Presbyterian Church in Vankleek Hill.

“We at Knox Church are so happy for Jim and this honour he richly deserves,” said Knox Minister Reverend James Douglas in a social media post.

Piper and pipe band organizer Colin MacLellan is also being inducted into the Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame in 2026 along with the Morris Family as a group.

Late teacher and performer Catherine Jean MacLeod, and late fiddler John Allan MacMillan are both being inducted into the hall of fame posthumously this year.

According to a press release issued by the Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame, the 2026 inductees display a variety of aspects in the Celtic music field, including as teachers, individual and band piping, fiddling, and as true entertainers vocally and instrumentally.

All nominations are kept on file, and they are reviewed each year by the selection committee.

The 2026 Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame Induction Dinner will take place on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Bonnie Glen Pavilion near Alexandria.
