Two local high school curling teams are representing their schools at the upcoming Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (EOSSA) championship in Brockville after strong performances this season.
Teams from Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI) and École secondaire publique Le Sommet in Hawkesbury are preparing for the next challenge as they travel to Brockville for the EOSSAA tournament. The competition begins on Tuesday, February 24, with the possibility of continuing into Wednesday, February 25, depending on how teams perform in their matches. Updates on the scoring will be featured in the papers on March 4.
From VCI, the team includes Lead Ella Mackinnon, Second Mathias Boisvert, Third Madison Parisien, and Skip Rafael Mackinnon. Le Sommet’s lineup features Lead Alexis Charbonneau, Second Cole Williams, Third Pearson Fraser, and Skip Tristan Das Eiras. Both teams have built solid chemistry over the season and are heading into the regional competition with confidence.
Both teams earned their spots at EOSSAA by winning their respective divisions in the PRSSAA League Championship, with VCI taking the mixed division and Le Sommet claiming the men’s division.
Das Eiras shared his thoughts ahead of the event: “I’m excited to go to EOSSAA. This is my fourth-year curling on a high school team and my third-year curling for Le Sommet. I know it’s going to be difficult to beat Kingston, but I know I’ll have fun with my team.”
With strong teamwork and determination, both VCI and Le Sommet are ready to take on the best in the region. Whether they come out on top or simply gain valuable experience, these local teams are set to leave their mark on the ice at EOSSAA.
