Numerous grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation were awarded to organizations across the region, totalling $440,100. The four grants were distributed through the Capital Community Investments program.
The Kenyon Agricultural Society was awarded a $200,000 capital grant over 12 months to enhance the experience at the Maxville Fairgrounds through upgrades to a modern, safe, and efficient electrical system.
In a press release, the organization noted that the upgrade will significantly benefit events such as the Glengarry Highland Games, improving electrical service for vendors, including food trucks, as well as stages, bands, and entertainers during community events. Overall, the improvements will better equip the Maxville Fairgrounds to host larger events while extending the long-term lifespan of the facility.
The Sentier récréatif Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail received a $74,100 capital grant over 12 months to replace outdated safety, wayfinding, and destination signage, enhancing the trail experience for users while supporting local businesses.
The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet received $166,000 over 12 months to serve Francophone and low-income families in the region. The capital grant will fund roof repairs and renovations at the Alfred Community Centre, extending the life of the facility and enhancing the Active Seniors programming offered.
