On Tuesday, February 10, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge Council unanimously supported the construction of a new Bell radiocommunications and broadcasting tower to be installed at 1868 Route 148 in Calumet, near the old Ultramar gas station.

The tower will be 60 metres tall and is a self-supporting structure. The project requires a minor exemption from zoning bylaws due to the tower’s height exceeding local standards, and must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and municipal permits.

Council noted that reliable telecommunication services are essential for the population and for public safety and emergency response. The Bell radiocommunications project will expand coverage in a sector currently underserved and will be compliant with the Canadian Radiocommunication Act.

Council unanimously supported the resolution without further discussion.
