The annual North Glengarry Polar Dip took place on Sunday, February 15, at Island Park in Alexandria under deceptively sunny skies. A total of 15 dippers took part this year, including North Glengarry Mayor Jamie MacDonald, who was dressed as United States President Donald Trump, and North Glengarry Councillor Michael Madden.

Organizer Rodney Shepherd said the event is expected to raise between $7,000 and $8,000. Shepherd estimated that approximately 20 dippers participate in the event each year.

“Over the past dozen years, we’ve been fortunate enough to raise more than $104,000 for the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame,” Shepherd said.

The water temperature was measured at a balmy –1.3 degrees Celsius before participants took the frozen plunge.
