On Tuesday, February 10, Glengarry-Prescott-Russell Member of Provincial Parliament Stéphane Sarrazin announced that the Ontario government is providing funding of more than $2.6 million to rehabilitate water infrastructure in the City of Clarence-Rockland. The funding comes from the province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Health and Safety Water Stream (MHIP-HSWS).

“The rehabilitation of the Rockland composite elevated reservoir is a critical project to ensure a safe and reliable water supply for the residents of Clarence-Rockland,” Sarrazin said.

The MHIP-HSWS funding will be used for a project that will be completed in two phases to rehabilitate the Rockland water tower. The first phase will address urgent health and safety repairs, including structural work and improvements to the interior lining of the tank. The second phase will focus on exterior repairs, safety upgrades, and protective coatings to extend the life of this essential infrastructure.

“Today’s announcement represents a major investment in the future of Clarence-Rockland. The rehabilitation of our elevated water tank is essential to ensuring the safety, reliability, and long-term sustainability of our drinking water system. We are grateful to the provincial government for this support, which allows us to continue delivering high-quality services to residents while preparing our community for growth,” said Clarence-Rockland Mayor Mario Zanth.
