Vankleek Hill’s own spring predicting groundhog had a dissenting opinion on Monday, February 2 compared to his more famous counterparts in other places.
Vankleek Hill Victor, who makes his home at Ouimet Farms, saw his shadow on the snow that sunny morning, sending him back inside his home, meaning six more weeks of winter, according to groundhog lore and eyesight.
Meanwhile by Georgian Bay in Ontario, Wiarton Willie did not see his shadow. Shubenacadie Sam in Nova Scotia did not see his shadow either. The reactions of both rodents indicate spring will arrive soon.
The more scientific weather experts at Environment Canada are predicting another week of cold temperatures and occasional snow around the region.
