On Monday, January 26, North Glengarry Council awarded more than $20,000 in community grants to local organizations and events, including in-kind use of numerous municipal venues. A second community grant intake has also been planned to distribute the remaining $7,500 in unallocated funds.
A variety of successful applicants received a total of $22,929.13 in grants and in-kind funding during the first round of the community grant program. Local favourites, including the Glengarry Pipe Band, received $2,000 of the $2,450 requested for its 65th reunion, while the Kenyon Agricultural Society received $2,500 of the $3,500 requested for children’s activities at the 2026 Maxville Fair.
Additionally, Caddell Productions will receive $500 in direct funding and $2,269 through in-kind support to use the Glengarry Sports Palace dry pad during the annual Glengarry’s Got Talent event, while the Glengarry Photo Club received $1,000 in funding and $1,492 in in-kind support for three days of use at the Sandfield Centre for its 2026 Photo Art Show.
Other recipients included the Alexandria Lions Club, the Glengarry Historical Society, the Sons of Scotland, and the Maxville and District Chamber of Commerce, bringing the total value of grants and in-kind contributions to $22,929.13. The remaining $7,526.87 will be distributed during the second round of the program.
The second intake for the community grants program is not yet open. Interested individuals and organizations are encouraged to monitor updates on the Township of North Glengarry website.
