Plans are in place for significant future improvements to parks and municipal buildings in Lachute.
On Monday, January 12, a notice of motion and regulation was deposited by city council which, if adopted, will allow for up to $1 million on capital expenditures for the acquisition and replacement of property and equipment in municipal parks and green spaces.
A notice of motion and regulation was also deposited, which if adopted by council, would allow for up to $1 million in redevelopment or related work at municipal parks and green spaces.
Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis said the proposed expenditure is part of the city’s plan to reinvest in parks. He said more details about what will be done will follow, but the current motions and regulations are necessary to ensure the funds for park improvements are allocated.
Similarly, on January 12, a notice of motion and regulation was also deposited by Lachute Council, which if adopted, would allow up to $3 million to be spent on construction, renovation, or development work on and in municipal buildings.
Each regulation still requires adoption by council on three readings at future council meetings.
