Winter is not disappearing anytime soon, so we might as well get out and enjoy it with neighbours and friends. Winter carnival season is approaching, and celebrations are planned for several local communities.
Dalkeith is first with its Winter Carnival on Saturday, January 24 and Sunday, January 25. The carnival has a western theme this year. Saturday events include a parade, hockey tournament, and carnival dance. On Sunday, there is a pork roast supper. Advance tickets are available at Scotiabank in Vankleek Hill and Scotiabank is providing a matching donation for all of the tickets purchased. The Dalkeith Recreation Association presents the Dalkeith Winter Carnival.
Friday, January 30, Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1 are fun days in Moose Creek. Winterfest features a teen dance on Friday, activities for families on Saturday, and a roast beef dinner that evening. The food and festivities continue Sunday morning at the firemen’s breakfast.
The Caledonia Community Centre will be busy on Saturday, February 7. The facility is home to the St-Bernardin Winter Carnival. A series of events and activities are planned for throughout the day. The village of Grenville will have its winter carnival on Saturday, February 21. Activities are centered at Parc Normand-Woodbury and the community centre on Rue Tri-Jean. A hockey tournament, family activities and games, a disco skate, and evening fireworks display are highlights of the day.
