We do not usually see robins this time of year in Canada, and even rarer are European robins, which look different than the American Robin commonly seen here between spring and fall.

The first known sighting of a European Robin in Canada was recently reported on avenue Rougemont in the Hochelaga-Maissoneuve area of Montréal. Local bird enthusiast and wildlife photographer Jacques Bouvier and Christine Trudeau, both members of the Vankleek Hill and District Nature Society went to the Montréal neighbourhood to see for themselves. Fortunately, they got a look at the bird and Bouvier took a photo of the rare Robin.
