On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Saint-André-d’Argenteuil Council adopted the 2026 municipal budget. This includes a 9.94 per cent increase in the property tax levy for residents. The municipality’s taxable assessment base of $731.9 million is expected to generate approximately $4.55 million in revenue, setting the total operating and capital project costs at $7,601,636 or 9.07 per cent more than 2025’s budget of $6,969,644.
Additional fees for residents were attributed to inflation, higher operating costs, and equitable cost distribution.
Household waste collection fees for residential units are rising to $121.74 per unit, up from $119.99 in 2025, an increase of 1.46 per cent.
Residential aqueduct service fees jumped by 60.10 per cent to $352.21 in 2026, up from $220 in 2025, while private properties will pay $517.81. The municipality recently took over a privately run aqueduct, previously managed by Aqua-Gestion Inc., to ensure continued water service. The rate hike is intended to recover uncollected fees from 2025.
In the Saint-André-Est sector, residential sewer service fees will rise by 22.73 per cent to $293.34, up from $239 in 2025. In the Carillon sector, fees will jump 47.58 per cent to $610.97, up from $414 last year. Organic waste collection fees remain unchanged at $43.13 annually.
Major investments in 2026 include infrastructure rehabilitation for chemin Rivière-Rouge ($175,800) and chemin Ile-aux-Chats ($4,325,147, pending subsidies), along with $322,000 for water treatment maintenance and asset management.
Fees for Sûreté du Québec services also rose 6.34 per cent, from $420,373 in 2025 to $447,023 in 2026.
Support for the budget was unanimous and there was no discussion prior to adoption.
