A councillor in The Nation wants the municipality to consider some major changes to library and recreation services.

At the December 8, 2025, council meeting, Ward 3 Councillor Danik Forgues introduced two notices of motion for council to consider at the next regular meeting, which is currently scheduled for January 26, 2026.

The first motion is for council to direct the administration to present, by June 30, 2026, a report on the feasibility of discontinuing the operation of the bowling alley at the St-Isidore Recreation Centre and relocating the St-Isidore branch of The Nation Public Library into the space currently occupied by the bowling alley. Currently, the library is in a building at 4531 Sainte-Catherine Street in St-Isidore. The motion also requests that the feasibility report include a detailed budget plan specifying the costs related to renovations and relocation, anticipated operational savings, and the potential revenue associated with the sale of the current building of the St-Isidore branch.

A second notice of motion introduced by Forgues which will be considered by council would, if adopted, direct the administration to present, by June 30, 2026, a stabilization and gradual reduction plan for operational recreation expenses, including measurable targets.

Councillors who introduce notices of motion do not speak about them when they are introduced. Instead, discussion is held at the meeting where council considers the adoption or rejection of the motion.
