One person has been charged after illegal drugs were seized by police in Hawkesbury.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began an investigation into drug trafficking in the area earlier this year after community concerns were raised. 

On Friday, December 19, officers with CSCU, assisted by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit, as well as members of the Hawkesbury Detachment, executed a search warrant on Regent Street.

Officers seized a quantity of methamphetamine (speed) pills and cash. One person was arrested without incident.

Paulette Plouffe, age 55 of Hawkesbury, has been charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Schedule I substance
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on January 21, 2026.
