The Mayor of Clarence-Rockland will preside over United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) Council in 2026.
Mario Zanth will be sworn in as Warden at an Inaugural Meeting of UCPR Council on Wednesday, December 17.
Zanth was first elected to Clarence-Rockland City Council in 2014. He was appointed Mayor of the city in September 2021 following the death of former Mayor Guy Desjardins. Zanth was elected Mayor by Clarence-Rockland voters in 2022.
According to UCPR Council documents, Zanth filed his nomination to be 2026 Warden on June 26, 2024. No other nominations were submitted and Zanth will be acclaimed to the position.
Zanth will succeed Alfred and Plantagenet Mayor Yves Laviolette as UCPR Warden.
The UCPR Inaugural Meeting begins at 7 pm on Wednesday, December 17, in the Council Chamber at the UCPR Administration Building on Court Street in L’Orignal.
