Square dancers from this region continue to win the top titles.

At the recent Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, two teams from the Prescott County 4-H Square Dance Club participated with some members of the Lachute 4-H Club helping to complete the lineup of dancers. This competition has had a long-standing tradition at The Royal and this year 10 square dance teams were entered. In the 4-H class, the Prescott County 4-H Green Set placed first among five teams. This is the second time in three years that the local club has won this class. In the Open class, the Prescott County teams placed 1st and 5th among 10 teams. This marks the third year in a row that the Prescott 4-H Green Set had been awarded the first-place ribbon in this class. Members of the team have been competing in square dance competitions from two to 10 years. The judges commented on their spirit, enthusiasm and timing.  In each class the teams are required to perform a combination of calls with the house caller. Plus, one call with their own caller that they have prepared in advance. Other teams participating came from Shawville 4-H, Wellington County 4-H, and the University of Guelph. Kelley Allen, caller and coach for the Prescott County team was awarded the top caller award. This is the sixth time he has been awarded this trophy.
