A team of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the Hawkesbury Detachment were among those who participated in a fundraiser for the United Way of Eastern Ontario at OPP East Region Headquarters in Smiths Falls on Tuesday, December 2. Another team was comprised of detachment commanders, who happen to all be women. The teams competed against each other and two teams of municipal staff from the Town of Smiths Falls.
Each team grabbed the rope and pulled the OPP Tactics and Rescue Team’s armoured rescue vehicle, which is not a lightweight piece of machinery.
The municipal staff won the competition. Funds raised through this event go to support the United Way’s initiatives and programs across the region. To contribute, visit unitedwayeo.ca.
