The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is attempting to set the record straight about recent fires in Hawkesbury and the surrounding area. The origins of these fires are not connected.
Local conversations, both online and in-person about recent fires in Hawkesbury have led to considerable speculation about their causes. On Monday, December 1, OPP posted on social media that the Hawkesbury Detachment of the OPP continues to investigate multiple fires in the area.
“These incidents are isolated, with no connection. We want to assure the public there is no concern for public safety,” said the message shared by the OPP on social media.
The OPP is asking anyone with information about any fire to contact the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
