On Thursday, November 27, Champlain Township Council announced it received 144 dual smoke and CO2 alarms from Enbridge Gas as part of a partnership with the Champlain Fire and Emergency Services department aimed at preventing fire and carbon monoxide-related deaths in the municipality.

Enbridge Gas Municipal Affairs Advisor Anik Benoit said the alarms, valued at $13,900, were provided through the Safe Community Project Zero program, which has been providing these alarms to communities across Ontario.

Mayor Normand Riopel and Fire Chief Ghislain Pigeon welcomed the donation from Enbridge ahead of the November 27 township council meeting.
