The Town of Brownsburg-Chatham installed a new commemorative pedestrian crossing honouring veterans at the intersection of Rue Principale and Rue des Érables in Brownsburg. This addition completes the Town’s commitment to the renovation of Parc des vétérans, which began in the spring of 2024.
Carried out in collaboration with Royal Canadian Legion Branch 71 in Brownsburg, the crosswalk is a symbolic and respectful gesture to honour the memory of veterans and former soldiers, while also improving safety for access to the park. The new commemorative pedestrian crossing was ready for the Remembrance Day ceremony held on November 11.
The markings on the ground are distinguished by a series of white and red stripes. At each end, an image of a soldier is accompanied by the inscription Lest we Forget/N’oublions jamais, a reminder of the importance of remembering the sacrifices made for freedom.
“I am proud that Brownsburg-Chatham is paying tribute to its veterans. This commemorative pedestrian crossing is a tangible way to express our gratitude and to acknowledge their essential contribution to our history,” said Brownsburg-Chatham Mayor Kévin Maurice.
The Town invites residents to discover this commemorative pedestrian crossing and to take a moment for reflection as they cross to Parc des vétérans.
