The groundbreaking ceremony for a new French public high school in Rockland was held on Friday, November 7. The Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO) is constructing the new École secondaire publique Rockland.
The Ontario government has provided $37,441,889 in funding for the new school, which will open its doors during the 2027-2028 school year. It will have 414 student spaces for grades 7 to 12 and will be located at 300 L’Étang Street in Clarence-Rockland. It will be the 49th school and the fifth new CEPEO school to open in three years.
“The construction of this new high school in Rockland represents a major investment in the future of our community. It will provide students in our region with a modern and stimulating environment where they can thrive in French. I am proud that the Ontario government has contributed financially to this project, which demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting quality education and the vitality of the Francophone community in Eastern Ontario,” said Glengarry-Prescott-Russell Member Provincial Parliament (MPP) Stéphane Sarrazin.
“We are very pleased to begin construction on l’École secondaire publique Rockland. This wonderful community deserves a modern secondary school, and it will have one. I would like to thank the Ontario government for funding this project,” said CEPEO Chair Samia Ouled Ali.
« L’École secondaire publique Rockland will meet the growing demand for quality French-language education in the region and will be a hub for the community. It will encourage a passion for learning while promoting the values of the CEPEO,” said CEPEO Director of Education Christian-Charle Bouchard.
