On Wednesday, November 5, police officers from the Sûreté du Québec Major Crimes Investigation Division arrested three people in connection with an arson that occurred on June 2 in Brownsburg-Chatham.
Jade Brunet-Paquette, 32, and Kevin Lizotte-Thompson, 36, were arrested in Saint-Jérôme and Saint-Félix-de-Valois, respectively, while Mikael Rioux, 37, was arrested at a detention centre where he is currently being held. They were scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, November 6, in Saint-Jérôme. They face arson charges.
On June 2, police responded to a vehicle fire on route du Canton (Route 148) in Brownsburg-Chatham shortly after midnight. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters. In addition to the three vehicles that were burned, three others nearby sustained damage.
The investigation is beginning to show that these fires are the result of a conflict between two criminal gangs in Lachute.
The investigation is ongoing.
