The holidays are a time for giving, and Champlain Library is once again inviting the community to take part in A Book on Every Bed, a simple act of kindness that makes a big difference.

Each year, this program helps bring the joy of reading to local children whose families receive Christmas baskets from the Vankleek Hill and L’Orignal food banks. This year, the library has more than 120 children taking part, the highest number yet, and could really use your help to make sure every one of them wakes up to a new book on Christmas morning.

A book can spark imagination, comfort, and wonder. By taking part, you are helping share that joy with a child right here in our community.

The program also extends to local seniors. We collect new magazines and activity books for residents of nearby care homes, spreading a bit of holiday cheer and connection to those who may not have family nearby.

If you would like to help, call us at 613-678-2216 or visit Champlain Library to be paired with a child and learn more about how to contribute. All donations should be dropped off by Friday, November 28, to ensure they’re delivered in time for the holidays.

Together, we can make this season a little warmer, one act of kindness at a time.
