The Hawkesbury Chamber Orchestra and the Centre Culturel Le Chenail will be presenting Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Cantatas 2, 4, and 5 on Sunday, November 30 at 4:30 pm at Église St-Pierre-Apôtre in Hawkesbury.

This milestone event is part of the special 50th anniversary program of the Centre Culturel Le Chenail, which is celebrating half a century of artistic promotion, creation, and outreach in the region.

Under the musical direction of conductor Marc Trautmann, a special guest from Paris, France, 16 musicians and four classical soloists will perform. The orchestra will be accompanied by Parish Priest Abbé Éric Robichaud for the recitation, and Natasha Demers, coloratura soprano from Gatineau (www.natachademers.com), Laure Vermeulin, mezzo-soprano from Paris (www.laurevermeulin.com), and Emmanuel Hasler, tenor from Montréal (operademontreal.com/en/artistes/emmanuel-hasler), and Stuart Graham, baritone from Toronto (stuartgraham.ca).

Proceeds raised from this event will be donated to the Saint-Pierre-Apôtre Parish, in support of the preservation and enhancement of this iconic Hawkesbury landmark.

“Our parish is entering an important phase in its life: a fundraising campaign to carry out essential repairs to our church, a place of faith and gathering. What a privilege to collaborate with the Centre Culturel Le Chenail to offer high-quality events—such as the presentation of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio—that support both our spiritual and cultural mission. “Let’s join forces to build the future together,” said Abbé Robichaud.

This concert is intended to be a meeting of music, heritage, and community—three pillars that have embodied the cultural centre’s mission since its inception.
