Residents of the subdivision in the north end of Vankleek Hill are concerned about recent attempted break-ins, and property damage.
A Barton Street resident said that shortly after midnight on Wednesday, October 15, the alarm on his home security system sounded and he found evidence that someone had tried to break into the house through a side door. The window and screen in that door were damaged.
The resident said two of his neighbours also reported similar activity around their homes. He has contacted the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and they have prepared a report about the attempted break-in.
On Home Avenue, a resident reported vandals recently removed a stop sign and left it in the street during the night. And, sometime between Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, a pumpkin was taken from a residence on Home Avenue and smashed in the road.
Residents should report suspicious behaviour and vandalism in their neighbourhood to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
