The municipal election campaign in Lachute is set to be one of the most interesting in Argenteuil with a race for mayor, races for council in three of six districts, and two incumbents are not seeking re-election.
Incumbent Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis is seeking re-election on November 2 along with a full slate of candidates with his Équipe Vision Lachute coalition. In 2021, Équipe Vision Lachute won all six seats on council.
Francis Dubé is challenging Bigras-Denis for the mayor’s position.
In District 1, Aline Gravel of Équipe Vision Lachute is running for another term on council but is being challenged by Nathalie Vigeant.
Incumbent District 2 Councillor Viriginie Filiatrault is not running this election. Jean-François Crepault and Yan Deschamps representing Équipe Vision Lachute are each for the vacant seat.
Christian David of Équipe Vision Lachute will be serving another term. The incumbent District 3 Councillor has been returned unopposed.
There will be a new councillor in District 4 on election day. Incumbent Gaétan Larose is not running again. Former Councillor Alain Lanoue is attempting to return to council in District 4 and faces a challenge from Line Perron of Équipe Vision Lachute.
In District 5, incumbent Guylaine Cyr-Desforges of Équipe Vision Lachute has been acclaimed.
Voters in District 6 have the choice of two candidates for council. Luc Dubé is running for the seat along with incumbent Équipe Vision Lachute Councillor Hugo Lajoie.
