Harrington Township residents head to the polls on Sunday, November 2, for the 2025 Québec municipal elections to decide whether Mayor Gabrielle Parr will be re-elected or unseated by challenger François Filion.

Parr narrowly won in a March 2023 by-election, defeating Filion by just seven votes, 185 to 178. The by-election followed the resignation of former Mayor Pierre Richard less than a year after the November 2021 elections due to health reasons.

Filion is making a second attempt to unseat Parr in this year’s mayoral race, seeking a rematch after his narrow loss in 2023.

The council’s fifth seat will have a three-way race, as Richard Francoeur, first elected in November 2017, is not seeking re-election for undisclosed reasons. Candidates Danny Low, Ray Spruzenieks, and Gerald Sosontovich are contesting the seat.

Second seat incumbent Julie James is being contested by Peter Burkhardt, while third seat incumbent Daniel St-Onge will face France Trudeau.

The acclaimed candidates are:

  • First seat: incumbent Chantal Scapino, held since November 2017
  • Fourth seat: incumbent Robert Dewar, held since November 2021
  • Sixth seat: incumbent Gerry Clark, held since November 2013

Advance voting runs on Sunday, October 26, from noon until 8 p.m. at the Lost River Community Centre at 2811 Route 327. Election-day voting will take place at the Harrington Golden Age Centre at 259 Chemin de Harrington between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m
