A new pastoral administrator has been appointed to support the parishioners of the six Catholic parishes of the Soleil Levant (rising sun) pastoral group.
Originally from Haiti, Father Yvelt Célestin Mondor was ordained a priest in July 2015 for the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. He served as parish vicar in Haiti from 2015 to 2023, then as Diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince and Administrative Director of a presbyteral school. In 2023, he enrolled at Saint Paul University in Ottawa to pursue a master’s degree in Social Innovation.
His ministry in the region began on August 1. Whether they are from Saint-Joachim of Chute-à-Blondeau, Saint-Eugène, Sainte-Anne de Prescott, Saint-Bernardin, Saint-Jean Baptiste of L’Orignal, or Saint-Grégoire of Vankleek Hill, the parishioners of the Soleil Levant pastoral group are very pleased with his arrival. Together with him, parishioners plan to work for the well-being of the young and old in the French-speaking schools and parishes of the region.
