The seventh annual Saint-André-d’Argenteuil Pumpkin Festival will be returning on Saturday, October 11, at Parc de Carillon. New this year, the festival will also include an official weighing site recognized by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth.

Regional producers will be able to weigh their harvest on-site and compete to win several prizes.

“The main objective behind this event is to encourage children to be involved and learn about growing their own food and what is necessary to grow food sustainably,” Saint-André-d’Argenteuil Mayor Stephen Matthews told The Review.

“As always, the love of pumpkins and community connections are key to this event.”

Producers in the region are encouraged to register at the festival to participate and win cash prizes in several categories, including the largest pumpkin, squash, tomato, sunflower head, watermelon, and more.

“We’ll also have live music and entertainment, and approximately 50 vendors at the market offering their homemade goods, crafts, and creations,” Matthews said. “We had about 3,000 people attend last year and expect more, weather permitting.”

The family-friendly festival will once again have a mini-farm, fire truck towers, children’s inflatable games and face-painting, as well as a mini-pumpkin decoration workshop.

Individuals looking to spend the night can also save 10 per cent if camping at the Parc Carillon campsite by calling 450-537-1919.
